How to Size a Grill Cover

Maintaining your grill covered when not in use keeps it clean and helps prevent corrosion. Measuring the overall measurements of the grill will let you purchase the correct size because there are dozens of cover sizes and shapes. It's also a good idea to sketch the basic layout of your grill because covers also come in many forms.

How To Size A Grill Cover Step By Step

Step 1

Sketch a simple image of the shape of your gas or charcoal grill. Even though you will measure the measurements later, taking a simple picture of the grill into the shop can allow you to find the ideal size and the ideal shape.

Step 2

Gauge the grill height from the top to the floor in inches, for example, chimney height, when you've got a smoker-type grill.

Step 3

Hold the tape measure to a side by the back of the grill to the front grip and write down the width.

Step 4

Gauge the grill span from the edge of one side to another side, including shelves and side burners.

Step 5

Shop for covers that are the same size or an inch or two more significant than your gas or charcoal grill size.

Step 6

Examine the package illustration to ensure the cover is the same shape as your grill. If you've got a shelf or side effects on either side of the grill, then the surface needs to be in that identical trapezoid shape.
