How to Convert a Weber BBQ Into a Fire Pit

With time, your older Weber BBQ will lose its glow or maybe reveal signs of rust. Perhaps you just purchased a brand new grill. However, I wonder if there may be some life left from the Weber kettle grill. Weber charcoal grill grills are famed for their distinctive world shape, which you'll be able to adapt to some fire pit with a couple of household tools. Just Weber charcoal grills are acceptable for this particular undertaking.

Step 1

Take off and set aside the dome, cooking grate, and charcoal grate for your Weber grill.

Step 2

Remove the bolt that secures all three legs to the bottom of the Weber grill with a screwdriver.  Pull each leg from the tube welded to the base of the grill.

Step 3

Remove the two screws holding the handle to the side of the grill.

Step 4

Measure the diameter and depth of the grill without the dome lid.

Step 5

Dig a hole on the flat ground an inch wider in diameter and an inch deeper than your barbecue with the shovel. By way of instance, a Weber grill 25 inches in diameter and 18 inches deep, with no ribbon lid, would want a hole 26 inches in diameter and 19 inches deep.

Step 6

Close the vents on the side of the Weber grill and then lower it to the hole. Push in the grill firmly to seat the Weber to the floor.

Step 7

Pour gravel or ornamental stone around the outside perimeter of the Weber grill to fill in the gap between the grip and surrounding soil. Distribute a circle of decorative or gravel stone around the edge of the grill, on the floor, as wide as desired, for a decorative touch.

Step 8

Lower the charcoal grate to the Weber as support for split logs when building a fire on your new fire pit. Cover the fire pit with the Weber dome when not in use to avoid an incident.
